Cindy Foster is the director of the Simulation and Game Development program at Wake Technical Community College. With her team of industry experienced professionals, she leads the robust degree program that feeds many of the Triangle area simulation and game development companies. In addition she is Principal Investigator for a $422,428 National Science Foundation grant to expand their degree program, offering advanced additional skills for graduates.
Cindy has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Iowa State University, where she was one of only a handful of women in her graduating class. When not in the thick of encouraging students to reach their full potential, Cindy wrestles Rottweilers, camps with her family, dreams of foreign travel, and hunts dead people.

Join HollyAnn and Cindy to learn how a dedicated team of grant professionals and community college faculty members blended their vastly different skill sets and knowledge to craft a grant proposal that resulted in a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (NSF ATE) award that is expanding Wake Tech’s Simulation and Game Development Associate of Applied Science degree program.
The goals of “Developing Certificates in Technical Art & Photogrammetry and Technical Animation” (DCTAPTA) are to develop two new certificates and four new courses, outfit a lab with highly specialized equipment, provide externships and internships for faculty and students, as well as increase diversity in the exciting and evolving field of game development. Join us for this (hopefully) entertaining presentation of their journey using GIFs and Memes…and possibly a cartoon or two.
