Join the Discord server to participate in round tables on how to get started in the games industry, share your portfolio, pitch your projects, vote on your favorite Art Contest piece, discuss the sessions, network with industry professionals and other students and more!

Portfolio Review Schedule

In each session, four to five portfolios will be reviewed by a career pro based on complexity and time. The portfolios that will be critiqued and the order will be decided at the start of each session. Sign-ups will be first come, first served with portfolio links requested at the beginning of the session. This gives everyone a chance to participate and ensures that the person is present.

When a portfolio is selected, the artist will give a brief introduction and ask the reviewer to critique a particular piece. Then, as time allows additional work will be reviewed. Each portfolio will be critiqued for approximately 10 minutes.

Portfolio reviews will take place Wednesday and Thursday at the following times (EDT).

9:00 - 9:50 AM - Reviewer: Brandon Crews
11:00 - 11:50 AM - Reviewer: David Schultz
1:00 - 1:50 PM - Reviewer: Ryan Grady
3:00 - 3:50 PM - Reviewer: Charlie Breakiron

Spotlight on Career Lounge Sessions

Career Lounge speaker sessions are not recorded and more in a conversational format. The speakers will present both Wednesday and Thursday. Drop into the Career Lounge Discord Channel and join the conversations!

Paxton Galvanek will discuss how to get hired, how people can brand themselves, how to navigate different studios, what to expect during the interview process, how to get your foot in the door, how a resume should look, & some tools/resources to get interviews Paxton has built the team at Funcom over the past 3 1/2 years here in Raleigh & Internationally and will be talking about the exciting things at Funcom.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

The game industry is trending upward with more concurrent worldwide players and new studios forming every year. Max Litvinov knows many developers aspire to be a part of this upward trend by working on commercial video games or are just interested in learning about a developer’s experience with other game studios. Max will cover his journey, including three case studies describing real-world scenarios.
