April 17 at 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Room: 302C

By Jacob Gilenwater

This talk will be an overview of Jacob Gillenwater’s research into virtual reality and user interface design for virtual reality. The talk will begin with a review of Fitts’s Law, how it works, and what it means for us as game developers. Next will be a dive into angular size and the mathematics that describe it. After that will be a demonstration of how the two resulting equations can be combined to create interesting results. The presentation will conclude with a review of best practices when designing user interfaces for virtual reality while keeping Fitts’s Law and angular size in mind.
